MDC Offering Free Tax Preparation Services

Six Miami Dade College Campuses—Eduardo J. Padrón, Hialeah, Homestead, Kendall, North and Wolfson—are providing free tax preparation services as part of Miami-Dade County’s IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

The program is available to low-income, elderly and non-English-speaking permanent residents. It will be administered through the Miguel B. Fernandez School of Global Business, Trade and Transportation.

Each campus will have different operational hours. To get campus-specific information, visit https://www.mdc.edu/vita/ and select the campus of your choice.

Residents must bring their social security card and any dependents being claimed, a photo ID, W-2 earnings statement, the 1099 MISC (for those self-employed) and 1099 INT (interest income) forms.

They must also bring a 1098-T tuition statement, 1095-A health insurance marketplace statement, a copy of last year’s federal return and any documents regarding the expenses to be claimed.

Federal income tax returns must be mailed and postmarked by April 18.
