MDC Students Awarded Prestigious Coca-Cola Scholarships
Seven Miami Dade College students from the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society have been named 2019 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars.
The recipients are: Reinaldo Figueroa, Alejandro Guerrero, Daniela Hernandez Vasquez, Nila Lumpuy, Eilin Monteagudo, Alexander Pereda and Coral Torres-Maldonado.
Each student will receive $1,000 for their academic and civic contributions to their community.
Approximately 200 PTK members are awarded the Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise scholarship in order to help them afford college. Students must be enrolled in a two-year accredited institution to be eligible.
In addition, Stephany Marjani was awarded the PTK Honor Society’s 2019 Pearson Scholarship for Higher Education. She is one of ten students, out of 600 applicants this year, to receive the $5,000 prize.
Upon receiving the scholarship, Marjani will receive free access codes and textbooks as well as a personal mentor that will guide her throughout her bachelor’s degree.
