Miami Dade College To Offer Free Income Tax Assistance
The Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program will offer free income tax assistance to the community at Miami Dade College from February through April.
Services will be offered at six campuses—North, Kendall, Wolfson, Padrón, Hialeah and Homestead—for low-income, non-English speaking and elderly individuals.
To qualify for assistance, taxpayers must earn approximately $57,000 or less, schedule an appointment and bring the following documents:
- Photo identification (i.e. driver’s license, passport)
- Social Security card or individual taxpayer Identification number (ITN) for taxpayers, spouse and dependents
- Date of birth of primary, secondary and dependent on the tax return
- Health insurance marketplace statement (1095-A)
- Wage and earnings statements from W2, W2G and 1099R forms from all employers
- Tuition statement form (1098T)
- Interest and dividend statements from bank (form 1099)
- A copy of last year’s federal and state return (if available).
- Total paid for day care provider’s and identifying number
- Bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit (bring voided blank check)
- Identity protection PIN letter issued in January 2023
- Pension withdrawal form W-9
- Bank documents with mortgage interest and property tax information
- Any letter received from the IRS
All documents must be originals, not copies.
Assistance is available in English and Spanish. Electronic filing is also available.
Federal income tax returns must be mailed and postmarked by April 15.
