North Campus Appoints New Assistant Custodian Supervisor

Jacques Alphonse was hired as the assistant custodian supervisor at North Campus on July 1.

His obligations include scheduling assignments and preparing equipment for more than 20 custodial employees.

“Working for Miami Dade College is a great opportunity,” Alphonse said. “I like to train people and I like to help others.” 

Aside from his new post, Alphonse will continue to work as a remote tax manager for Tax Stop, a tax preparation services business, a role he has held for the last 15 years. 

Before MDC, he served as a maintenance worker for the City of Miami Beach’s parks and Recreation Department and an armed security guard for Allied Universal Security Services from July 2023 to July 2024. 

 Alphonse has also worked as a TSA security guard at Boston Logan Airport and Miami International Airport, a seasonal logistics administrator at Amazon and a sales associate at Lowe’s.

The 35-year-old earned an associate’s degree in business administration at Massasoit Community College in 2011. Three years later, he attained a bachelor’s degree in business and finance from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, in 2014.    

Daylyin Staples

Daylyin Staples, 19, is a mass communication/ journalism major at North Campus. Staples, who graduated from Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High School in 2023 will serve as a briefing writer for The Reporter during the 2024-2025 school year. She aspires to work as a news writer, editor and producer.
