North Campus Restructures Its Leadership Team For New Academic Year
North Campus reorganized its administrative team, announcing three leadership changes in early August.
Crystel Lewis is the new dean of student services, Evelyn Rodriguez will serve as the senior director of campus administration and Jose Gondar has been selected as interim campus chief information officer.
The administrators will start their new roles on Aug. 15.
“They’ll be able to continue to influence these departments to be as efficient and as resourceful as possible for our students,” said Fermin Vazquez, the interim president at North Campus.
Crystel Lewis
Lewis, 37, will oversee academic advising, new student orientation, testing and assessment, career exploration, student life and the ACCESS department.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in African studies in 2006 from the University of South Florida. Six years later, Lewis obtained her master’s degree in higher education administration from Florida International University.
From 2008 to 2010, Lewis served as the South Florida director of operations for the Princeton Review. After earning her master’s degree, she served as an academic advisor for the Department of Biological Sciences at FIU.
From 2014 through 2015, Lewis served as the director of student life at the Eduardo J. Padrón Campus. She then worked as the campus’ director of advisement & career services for three years. For the past four years, she was the director of retention and transition services at North Campus.
“It is a dream come true as a student affairs professional,” Lewis said. “I feel so blessed to assume this role and contribute to my community.”
Evelyn Rodriguez
Rodriguez, 39, will oversee the aquatic and fitness center, campus facilities planning, support services, reservations and public safety.
After earning an associate’s degree in mass communications from North Campus, Rodriguez obtained her bachelor’s degree in public communications from Florida Atlantic University In 2010. Three years later, she obtained her master’s degree in education administration from FIU.
In 2006, Rodriguez began a nine-year stint in student life at North Campus. First serving as an instructional assistant and then as Student Life Director.
Previously, she served as a grant director for the multidisciplinary academic learning lounges from 2015 to 2019. She then served as the director of campus support services for two years.
Rodriguez has served as the interim chairperson of the School of Business at North Campus since last August.
“I am truly grateful,” Rodriguez said. “I look forward to working with our students, faculty, staff and administrators to not only serve the campus but serve our community.”
Jose Gondar
Gondar, 36, will be in charge of IT infrastructure support and media services including the division’s graphic design, marketing, video production and photography.
After graduating with an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Kendall Campus, Gondar transferred to FIU and completed a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2011.
Before joining Miami Dade College, Gondar served as a technology specialist for State Farm from 2004 to 2008. That year, he began a four-year stint as an event technology support specialist at Kendall Campus before becoming an instructional support specialist at Wolfson Campus.
After leaving Wolfson Campus in 2012, Gondar relocated to North Campus to work as a media support specialist. Three years later, he served as the campus director of media services from 2015 until he started his current role.
“I’ve…been blessed with getting the opportunity to continue to grow,” Gondar said. “I hope to advance the technology that’s in the classroom.”
