Student Pride Week Brings Awareness And Entertainment

The MDC Pride student club will host Pride Week at Wolfson Campus, 300 N.E. Second Ave. from April 11 through 14. The four-day event will include a Pride Expo, discussion panel, an appreciation ceremony, food and refreshments, and a drag show.

“What we’re doing is that we’re trying to break through that conservative wall that MDC Wolfson has and bring attention to our club,” said Katherine Granados, vice-president of the MDC Pride club at Wolfson Campus.

The group describes itself as not just for the LGBTQ+ community, but for anyone who believes and wants to actively support the need for complete and total equality for all human beings.

The Pride Expo, held on April 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the building 2 breezeway, will feature organizations that help the LGBTQ community. On April 12, there will be a discussion panel about homeless LGBTQ youth in Room 2106 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

On April 13, the Appreciation Ceremony, in Room 6100 from noon  to 1:30 p.m.  will recognize people and organizations that help the LGBTQ community. The week will end with a student drag show on April 14 in Room 2106 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
