The Idea Center Is Accepting Applications For ScaleUp D5 Program

The Idea Center  is accepting applications through Jan. 12 for the ScaleUp D5 program, a twelve-week training aimed at helping small businesses in District 5 in Miami-Dade County.

The non-credit program at Miami Dade College will be offered for free, thanks to a partnership with District 5 Commissioner Eileen Higgens.

Training will include in-person workshops, networking, one-on-one coaching and the development of a growth plan.

“[This is] a significant partnership for us because it’s helping us to empower small business owners in the heart of our community,”said Alejandro González, the executive director of The Idea Center.

Sessions will be offered in English and Spanish from Jan. 24 through April 11 at Wolfson Campus, 315 N.W. 2nd Avenue, Room 8501. English classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and Spanish classes will be held from 4 p.m to 7 p.m.

The program will conclude with a pitch competition on April 11 at Wolfson Campus, for a chance to win $5,000.

Eligible applicants must have an operating and registered business for at least a year in District 5, a maximum of 10 full-time employees and an annual revenue of less than $500,000.
