The White House Teams Up With Pop Star Olivia Rodrigo To Get More People Vaccinated

With vaccination rates slowing down, the White House has been looking for creative ways to reach those that haven’t gotten vaccinated.

The efforts have varied from door-to-door outreach strategies to inviting Olivia Rodrigo, a well-known singer and songwriter, to the White House to create videos to encourage her fans to get vaccinated.

With her first-ever album topping the Billboard charts for almost a month, Rodrigo has become an influential celebrity with more than 15 million followers on Instagram.

During her visit to the White House on July 14, she made several videos with President Joe Biden and others from the administration where she spoke about the importance of getting vaccinated.

The Biden-Harris Administration’s main concern is the spread of the more contagious COVID-19 variant—the Delta variant—, which already accounts for about 74.3 percent of coronavirus cases in western states and 58.8 percent in eastern states.

However, the White House is confident that its perseverance will pay off.

The White House plans to step up its efforts to get vaccines to primary-care doctors and pediatricians so they can encourage teenagers to get vaccinated as they head back to school.

I got vaccinated as soon as I had the opportunity to because no matter how many “conspiracy theories” are thrown at me, the negative impact that the virus has had in the United States far outweighs any side effects the vaccine could cause.

My brother got terribly sick with COVID-19 and I never want to see him or anyone else feel that way.

More than six hundred thousand Americans have died because of the virus, not to mention others around the world. My high school professor Yasir Palacio died one month ago because Colombia does not have enough vaccines.

People from third-world countries have died as they wait to get vaccinated

My family in Colombia constantly reminds me how much of a blessing it is for people to get vaccinated and not live in constant fear.

We are blessed with the chance and resources to protect ourselves and prevent more deaths.

The future of this pandemic really is in our hands.

No one is forcing anyone to get vaccinated, but we are sharing stories in hopes that it’ll encourage others to take action.

So, if possible do your part and find a vaccination site today at vaccines.gov.
