Who Will Actually Vote In Presidential Elections?

Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, two names heavily supported by several U.S. citizens. Many conservatives are siding with Trump’s ideas like enforcing our borders and eliminating common core. While Clinton is attracting more liberals with her liberal appeals such as enforcing Obama Care and searching for renewable energy sources.

Clinton is currently the candidate with the upper hand in the upcoming presidential election after the Sept. 26 debate. This election goes down to the wire for its controversy, and it’s really tough to see a winning candidate.

Social media has played a vital role in this election, especially among young voters. A variety of memes and media posts on outlets such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook have me wondering about how many individuals truly support either candidate, and who will actually vote for them.

Voter turnout will always be an aspect that won’t climatically drop, yet this election will result in the witnessing of a decline in voter turnout. While some appeals among both candidates are favored among their parties, others are highly criticized and disliked.

Trump and Clinton are candidates who have taken some points of view either way out of hand, or have transitioned opinions to a point where trust is questionable among the both of them. They also have shared some appeals together such as Trump being pro-choice at one time,  and they have always appeared to be friendly until the beginning of this election, with photos of them as evidence.

Trump is a little bit of an extremist in issues such as immigration with viewing Syrian refugees as a “Trojan Horse,” according to ontheissues.org.

I conducted a survey in some of my classes at Miami Dade College, and the evidence is well enough to back up this controversy. One out of every five students who are eligible voters and participated in this survey stated that they won’t vote in this election, mostly because they disfavor either candidate.

Victor Martins, a criminal justice major at North Campus told me after volunteering in the survey that “both candidates are a true joke, Trump is a very insane and ill-tempered candidate and Hillary is someone is filled with nothing but corruption and empty promises.”

Let’s face it, this is truly a tough election. Neither candidate has a lot to offer and either candidate can truly harm the well being of this nation.
