Young Entrepreneur Follows Fashion Dream
Former Miami Dade College student Carla Llull is a young entrepreneur who is trying to make a difference in the Miami fashion scene and envisions expanding the South Florida market.
At 23, Llull is the proud owner of House of Llull Atelier, a company that manufactures the designs of fashion designers—both established and aspiring.
A strong advocator for the fashion scene, she wants to help designers feel that they can make their dreams come true anywhere even if it is right here in Miami.
“This is the place where fashion designer’s dreams come alive,” Llull said.
She dreams of taking Miami’s fashion to the next level because she wants Miami to be known for it’s fashion just like New York and Los Angeles.
Llull’s passion for fashion motivates her; she is a designer herself and has even used her skill for MDC’s AIDS Awareness Week, making a quilt representing the many people who are affected by HIV/AIDS.
Llull used MDC as her launching pad from 2007-2009. She then went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in fashion design at Miami International University of Art & Design.
Llull dedicates her success to her parents and their unconditional support which inspired her to follow her dream and open her own business.
Llull said that the House of Llull Atelier has a family feel, truly representing her kind-hearted nature and that of everyone working in the studio.
Arcelia Diaz, a seamstress at the studio, urges up-and-coming designers to never give up on their dream.
“One should be open, optimistic, creative, and believe in their vision,” Diaz said.
In the summer, Llull plans on starting her own line of clothing for plus-sized women.
“I can’t reveal too much, but it is going to be high-fashion with bold colors,” Llull said.
Llull said young designers must overcome their fears to reach their goals.
“Don’t be afraid to start your dream,” Llull said. “Just do it.”
