Tomova Tabbed As New North Campus English Chair

Michaela Tomova started in July as the new chairperson of the English and Communications Department at North Campus.

“There’s opportunity to be explored,” Tomova said.

She started working at Miami Dade College in 2002 as an adjunct professor and has since served the College in different administrative positions, including being the learning support center director, a department chairperson and interim director of the district office of academic programs.

The English and Communications Department at North Campus is made up of 26 professors of English, journalism, speech communications and American Sign Language.

Tomova earned her master’s degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Sofia in Bulgaria. She studied linguistics at the University of Durham, England and did postgraduate studies at the University of London. Tomova is pursuing a doctoral degree from the University of Miami in higher education leadership.
