College To Host First Better Food Movement Conference
Miami Dade College’s Culinary Institute, located at 415 N.E. 2nd Ave., will host the first annual Better Food Movement conference to discuss important issues affecting food on Feb. 22 starting at 8:30 a.m.
Students are welcome to network and learn from different business leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers and influencers from different regions.
Morning sessions will focus on issues like sugar, soda tax and legislation. The afternoon sessions will revolve around food innovation.
Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to Marion Nestle, author of Food Politics: How the Food Industry Influences Nutrition & Health and Soda Politics: Taking on Big Soda. There will also be a special guest speaker, Sara Soka, the consultant on the campaign for Berkeley versus Big Soda—a group that advocates for fees on sugary drinks.
