Miami Film Festival Accepting Applications For The Louies

Applications for The Louies, $100,000 in funding that will be shared by six filmmakers creating documentaries about South Florida, are open through Nov. 5.

The program, sponsored by the Miami Film Festival, also provides free access to the Wolfson Archives for archival material. 

“We hope that emerging filmmakers put in their applications and kickstart their careers,” said James Woolley, executive director of the Miami Film Festival.

The feature-length documentary winner will receive $50,000 to create a documentary of 50 minutes or more and three winners will receive $10,000 each to create a short film of eight to 12 minutes.

Additionally, two filmmakers will receive $10,000 each to complete a feature-length documentary in the post-production phase.

To apply, applicants must be at least 18 years old, Miami-Dade County residents and have U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.
