North Campus’ MDC TV Retooled For The Future

The MDC TV studio at Miami Dade College’s North Campus has undergone $275,000 in renovations.

The renovated studio will feature state-of-the-art technology such as HD cameras, a tapeless recording system, servers and archives to store the TV shows, and an HD-TV switcher and monitoring system.

“I am very excited about our department being able to provide our students with the very latest hands-on training and real-world education they deserve,” said Barry Gordon, director of the School of Entertainment & Design Technology. “SEDT strives to be the very best educational training ground for students who desire a career in the highly competitive entertainment industry.”

Apart from being used by MDC TV to create original content, the renovated studio will also be used for educational purposes, namely by the School of Entertainment and Design Technology.  Students will use this studio to train for jobs in the entertainment industry.

“Once all the renovations are completed and the equipment is installed, the new TV studio [at]  Miami Dade College’s North Campus will meet every demand in TV and radio, comparable to most major broadcasting stations,” said Mellonaise Jackson, an SEDT radio and television broadcast major at North Campus. “That’s priceless.”
