Scholarship Started In Memory Of Beloved MDC Professor
A scholarship has been created to honor long-time Miami Dade College accounting and economics professor Maria C. Mari, who passed away last March.
The Professor Maria Mari Memorial Scholarship is available to members of Phi Beta Lambda studying accounting at Kendall Campus.
Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. They must submit a short questionnaire that needs to be signed by a business professor at Kendall Campus.
It should also include a copy of the student’s unofficial transcript, a resume that documents working with Phi Beta Lambda and a 250-word essay on their favorite character of the Marvel Comics universe.
The scholarship amount varies on the student’s financial need. Donations for the scholarship fund can be submitted at www.mdcfoundation.com/maria-c-mari.
Mari, who taught at the College for three decades, advised the Phi Beta Lambda chapter at Kendall Campus for 13 years and won four Endowed Teaching Chair awards.
Applications must be mailed to David Medina, director of Scholarship Programs, by Feb. 28. They are available at www.mdc.edu/financialaid/scholarships/default.aspx.
For more information, contact Medina at (305) 237-0384 or dmedina4@mdc.edu.
