Student Simone Salmon Wins Caribbean Ethnicity Pageant

Simone Salmon, a 19-year-old Miami Dade College North Campus student, won the 38th annual Florida Caribbean Student Association Pageant.

The pageant was held during the annual leadership conference, themed “The Road We Traveled: Past, Present and Future,”  held at Florida Atlantic University March 23-25. The program focused on bringing different Caribbean ethnicities together as one through workshops and community service involvement.

Four delegates competed for the title of Florida Caribbean Student Association Pageant. They were judged based on introduction, talent, culture, questions and answers, posture and public speaking abilities.

Salmon, a Jamaican-American, performed a gospel song in sign language.

“A perfect reflection of Simone herself, creative and unique,” said North Campus English professor Binh Troung.
