Homestead Campus Appoints Honors College Director

Nicole Bryant has been appointed as Homestead Campus’ Honors College director. She began her post on Oct. 25.

Bryant, 40, will advise, coach and mentor the campus’ first cohort. The inaugural class will consist of 50 students who will start Honors College courses and activities next fall. A full class of 75 scholars will begin the following year.

“I want to ensure that all students feel as if they have a chance to be represented here at the Honors College,” said Bryant, who has worked at Homestead for more than 16 years.

For the past 12 years, Bryant served as the campus’ student life director. She has also worked as a program coordinator for campus administration and the office and outreach specialist for the Title V grant for the Viva El Exito Student Success Initiative.

Bryant has a bachelor’s degree in English literature and a master’s in medical sociology both from the University of Miami. In 2011, she earned a doctorate of education degree in higher education leadership and organizational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

Ammy Sanchez

Ammy Sanchez, 20, is a mass communications/journalism major in The Honors College at North Campus. Sanchez, who graduated from Hialeah Gardens High School in 2020, will serve as editor-in-chief, briefing editor and social media director for The Reporter during the 2021-2022 school year. She aspires to be a journalist.
