Homestead Campus Appoints New Director of Campus Administration

Gabriel Curbelo was appointed as the new director of campus administration at Homestead Campus on July 14.

His responsibilities will include overseeing the campus budget and areas such as public safety, custodial services, facilities planning and the mailroom.

“I look forward to applying a systems thinking approach to campus operations, particularly in the areas of construction and renovations,” Curbelo said. “I’m excited to engage with a wide-range of stakeholders…to ensure that projects are inclusive, responsive and aligned with Miami Dade College’s goals.”

Before joining MDC, Curbelo served in a variety of roles for the National Park Service, including park ranger, administrative support assistant and administrative program specialist.

While in the public sector, he had a strong focus on education, community engagement and student support services.

Curbelo obtained an associate degree in general studies from MDC in 2016 before transferring to Florida International University, where he earned bachelors degrees in anthropology and in sustainability and environmental sciences in 2019.

In 2024, he completed a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Colorado Denver.
