Physician Assistant Program Places First At Southeast Challenge Bowl Semifinals
The Physician Assistant program at Medical Campus won first place at the semifinals of the Southeast Challenge Bowl, a high-energy medical game organized by the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
The competition was held virtually on April 18. Miami Dade College’s team included Andrew Grossman, Ginna Lora Ortega and Jamie Chavez.
“We are very happy,” said Dr. Nicolas Massimini, who has coached the team since 2008. “This is not the first time that we’re winning. As you can see, we won six times in the state of Florida. And we won two times nationally.”
During the competition, students played Kahoot! and answered questions based on medical practices and science. The contest is divided into six regions—MDC competed in the Southeast region—and includes teams from top institutions like Duke University and the University of Southern California.
The team will compete against the challenge’s other regional semifinalists on May 24 at the Virtual Challenge Bowl Championship finals. Although it will not live streamed, a recording will be made available after the event.
