Urbana Wins Gold Crown Award For Third Year In A Row
For the third straight year, Urbana, the student-led hybrid literary arts magazine at the Eduardo J. Padrón Campus has earned a Gold Crown from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
Volume 15, which featured a Quinceañera theme, received the award based on its overall excellence. The work was published during the 2021-2022 academic year.
Winners were announced on March 9 during the College Media Association’s Spring National College Media Convention in New York City.
“Urbana winning the Gold Crown was the best way to end this phase of the magazine,” said Maria Alejandra Albarracin, who serves as Urbana’s co-editor-in-chief. “It was a lot of hard work and effort and it is great to see everyone recognized.”
This past October, Volume 15 earned the publication its first magazine Pacemaker Award from the Associated Collegiate Press and a first-place Pinnacle Award from the CMA.
