North Campus Appoints New Mathematics Department Chairperson
Irma Cruz-White was appointed as the new chair of the mathematics department at North Campus on July 5.
Cruz-White, 50, will oversee the department’s administrative functions to enable student success.
“I will strive to provide students with a high-quality education by making sure that both faculty and students have the resources required for students’ success,” Cruz-White said.
Before joining Miami Dade College, Cruz-White had a 19-year stint as a mathematics professor at Chipola College. During her teaching tenure, she also served as a grant evaluator for the Florida Department of Revenue Child Support from 2009 to 2014 and an accreditation consultant from 2013 to 2015. For the past six years, Cruz-White has served as a coordinator for the National Council of Teachers of mathematics.
Cruz-White obtained her bachelor’s degree in computational mathematics from the University of Puerto Rico at Humacao in 1994. She earned her master’s degree in mathematics in 2000 and her doctorate degree in biomedical sciences in 2003 from Florida State University.
